IndiEarth Animation Film Festival to take place in August at Chennai, invites entries

The third annual IndiEarth Animation Film Festival in association with the Alliance Francaise of Madras features landmark animations from around the world is to take place in Chennai on 20 and 21 August.

Paying tribute to the art of animation, the last edition of the festival showcased over 130 films from across India, France, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Croatia, Iran and a host of other countries. A series of workshops, engaging post screening discussions, and Q&A sessions are also part of the festival’s itinerary that aims to showcase innovations within the genre, as well as provide a platform for up and coming animation artists.

Last year’s festivities featured master classes with prominent Indian animation artists like Gitanjali Rao (Printed Rainbow/True Love Story) and international pioneers like Thomas Meyer-Hermann (Studio Film Bilder/Jury Member – Ottawa and Stuttgart International Animation Film Festival).

The event showcased a finely curated selection of animations that touched on globally relevant topics of identity, sexuality, environment, geo-politics, anthropology, technology and much more, and also featured a host of national and international award winning films – offering audiences a line up of truly cutting edge, forward thinking works of art.
