effects MTL has announced that its opening keynote session will be taken on the visual effects of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, presented by Tim Belsher, CG Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Vancouver.
Tim discusses ILM’s work on the creation of Ultron, Marvel’s latest nemesis, the development of The Hulk and the massive virtual environments created for the film. “ILM is excited to be a part of effects MTL in its inaugural year and we are looking forward to what will undoubtedly be a ‘must attend’ conference in years to come,” said Greg Grusby, sr. manager PR & communications at Industrial Light & Magic.
As part of the second edition of the Digital Spring, effects MTL takes place on 10-11 June, and features a wide variety of sessions about recent blockbusters and highly rated TV series, including Guardians of the Galaxy, Game of Thrones, Hotel Transylvania 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America 2 and more.
The sessions are presented by world-renowned experts from studios such as Cinesite, Marvel Studios, Framestore, Sony Pictures Animation, Pixomondo, MPC and many others.
“effects MTL’s main purpose is to unite the visual effects and animation industries, mobilise the people who are part of them, and support its economic expansion,” said Marine Leličvre, event director. “We are proud of the undeniable source of talent in the province of Quebec and want to show the world, that’s why everyone will have access to affordable conference passes to participate in this great celebration.”
In addition, several special events are planned, such as the free job fair for recruitment and to spark new collaborations; the soundtrack and green screen contests; and the Business Lounge for decision-makers and buyers from around the globe, including India, the Netherlands, the United States and China.
The Exhibition Zone is another integral part of effects MTL, welcoming major local and international players such as iWeb, Cinesite, ILM, Double Negative, The Foundry, Maxon and others.
