Universal Studios’ Furious 7 hasn’t just shattered box-office records but has also broken many hearts around the world with the demise of one of the pivotal characters ‘Brian’ aka Paul Walker.
Recently the producer of the film Vin Diesel spoke to MTV News backstage after the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night, where he said: “The fact that the world embraced it and allowed it to be Paul’s legacy, it’s just a beautiful thing.”
But, there is more news that follows; given the film’s record-smashing debut at the box office, an eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise is all but confirmed by Universal Studios. Diesel has been vocal about his hopes for Fast & Furious 8, but the actor revealed that the film’s biggest proponent was its late star Paul Walker.
“Paul used to say that [Fast & Furious] 8 was guaranteed and, in some ways, when you’re brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass,” Diesel added. “So, if fate has it – fate, F8 – then you’ll get it. ‘Furious 7 was for Paul; 8 is from Paul.’”
The film has not only done well globally, but has also notched up serious speed at the domestic box-office in India and is very well on course to break the Rs 100 crore barrier soon. Whatever the fate of the Fast & Furious franchise now, one thing is for sure… It won’t be the same without Brian O’Connor! RIP Paul…
