No sooner had No Man’s Sky released, it went from being one of the most anticipated games of the year to one of the most controversial games of the year. The people who bought the game felt that, Hello Games, the developers of the open world, space exploration game did not deliver a lot of aspects of the game which were promised in the trailers and the teasers prior to the game’s release and some even demanded a refund.
The weeks that followed, saw a number of events revolving around the same topic. With the players venting their frustrations on the issue, it prompted UK’s Advertising Standards Authority to look into the matter about misleading promises for the game. Even Steam recently directed all the developers to provide in-game screenshots and videos while promoting their game on the platform, which can be largely traced back to the No Man’s Sky controversy.
Now, it seems Hello Games is trying to redeem themselves by bringing additional content to No Man’s Sky. The latest blog post from the game’s website indicates that the new update will bring in the base building feature. The patch is titled ‘Foundation Update’, taking a cue from the base building feature and “because this is putting in place a foundation for things to come.”
No other details about the upcoming patch have been revealed yet, neither has the date been revealed as the post reads, “Detailed patch notes will follow, and release will be soon.” So, we can expect this in the coming weeks.
The team of developers have kept mum on the issues regarding the game since its release, but according to the statement, they have kept a close watch on it.
“The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about,” the post read.
“Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.”
Recently, the twitter account of Hello Games had been hacked and posted a statement saying, ‘No Man’s Sky was a mistake’, however the page was recovered and the tweet was deleted soon.
