Till date we have been hearing news about comics getting adapted into shows but seems like Harry Potter star, Rupert Grint is coming up with original comic book based TV series. Grint who’s a big comic book fan, had asked Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta to come up with this one of it’s kind story.
The person who inspired Horta with this pilot’s story is none other than The Neighbor’s producer, Aaron Kaplan who will be producing this untitled drama. Grint will be playing the role of Rupert who’s a low-level New York office drone obsessed with Imperial City, a comic book series his father created before his death. Rupert has spent his whole life believing he owned all nine issues. But his boring life takes a turn when one fine day, a mysterious comic book collector reveals the existence of a tenth issue. Not just that, Rupert discovers that the world of Imperial City is real and he is the only person who can save it.
The studio producing with Horta’s Silent H Productions and Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment is Warner Bros. TV, where Horta is under an overall deal. Horta’s producing partner at Silent H, Andrew Maher, is expected to serve in some producing capacity. With Grint serving as the producer, Horta and Kaplan will executive produce the pilot.
The pilot will be aired on NBC and Grint will be seen for the second time on the small screen with the pilot Super Clyde on CBS being the first. It would be interesting to watch how this comic book TV series will attract the audiences who are already bewitched with comic adapted series like Gotham, Arrow, Supergirl and many more.
