Recently released trailer for the upcoming Harley Quinn animated series, reaches levels of self-awareness in breaking-the-fourth-wall-styled running commentary that is reminiscent of Deadpool.
Exploring this interesting territory, Harley Quinn’s character seems to have developed a sharp sting in her tail since she is seen to be saying “unlike that Deadpool cartoon, it’s actually coming out”, thereby taking a shot at Marvel’s cartoon adaptation of Merc with the Mouth comic book for its failure to be aired despite announcements which had left fans reeling with disappointment.
Harley Quinn known for her dark, moody and zany offerings is voiced by Big Bang Theory Fame Kaley Cuoco but it’s clear that they’ll be veering to a new dimension with this adult-oriented content. In fact, she even goes far as to threaten to bash in the heads of anyone who is not enjoying the show – OUCH – That’s quite a way to pitch your product, I guess!
If you are expecting the romance between Joker and Harley Quinn to bloom, perish the thought because the synopsis of the show suggests that she’ll be breaking away from this toxic relationship and establishing herself as her own woman:
Harley Quinn follows Harley’s adventures after she breaks up with the Joker and strikes out on her own in this new, adult animated comedy. With the help of Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.
It’s going to be one hell of a ride when it rolls out on the big screen in 2019!
