Marvel fans have a reason to celebrate as Marvel Comics has announced to relaunch the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series in 2019.
The publishing house has finally decided to bring back the Guardians of the Galaxy series, nine months after the previous series of this superhero franchise came to an end. Marvel Entertainment took to Twitter to unveil the poster of the upcoming comic book series which is slated to be released in January 2019. The poster ‘Who Are The Guardians’ will be probably scripted by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw.
Some media reports also state that Marvel might introduce some new characters in the upcoming comic books. The poster consisted of characters from the past and present, including Thor and its supporting character Beta Ray Rill, two X-Men-related intergalactic groups (the Imperial Guard and the Star Jammers) and Cosmic Ghost Rider, which is a recently created character having the characteristics of both the famous characters of Ghost Rider and the Punisher.
The popular American comic book series was made into a film in 2014 of the same name. The story of the fiction fantasy-science fiction film revolves around a group of interstellar rogues who turned superheroes in order to save the universe.
Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy premiered under the banner of Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It was the tenth film in the MCU. The movie starred Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel (voice of Groot), Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro.
The movie was followed by a sequel titled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 that was released in 2017. With the same lead cast, the film was also successful at the box office. Slated to be released in 2020, the third instalment of the film titled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might get delayed after director James Gunn was detained from the project.
