‘Grisù’ turns up the heat as Living Pixels joins second season action

The little dragon is back, and this time the production fires are already burning. Hyderabad-based Living Pixels Entertainment, an animation and post-production studio, has begun production on the second season of Grisù, a popular animated character and children’s television series about a little fire-breathing dragon who dreams of becoming a firefighter, expanding its global animation footprint with 52 episodes of 11-minute, the beloved European animated property.

Produced by Mondo TV Group, an Italian production and television distribution company, the new season is slated for delivery by the end of 2027. Based on the classic character created by Nino and Toni Pagot, Grisù follows a young dragon with one burning ambition: to become a firefighter, despite his family’s decidedly fiery heritage.

The new season has already attracted heavyweight international backing. Rai Kids, the children’s television production and genre management division of Radiotelevisione italiana (Rai), Italy’s national public broadcasting company, has signed a pre-acquisition agreement, while Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF) Studios, a commercial business subsidiary of the major German television network, handles international program distribution, co-productions, and media licensing, has joined as a co-production partner. Mondo TV Group, Calidra, Rai Kids, and ZDF Studios is involved in both production and distribution.

Mondo TV Group CEO Matteo Corradi shared, “We are delighted to partner again with Rai Kids on the second season of Grisù, and we would like to express thanks to all the teams involved that made this deal happen. The  strong interest in a classic yet contemporary IP like Grisù from major media players is a further confirmation of the enduring strength of Mondo TV Group productions in the current highly competitive audio-visual environment.”

For Living Pixels, the deal adds another feather or perhaps a flame to its international production cap. The studio will bring its expertise in animation production, CG asset development and production pipeline management to the series, further cementing its role as an animation partner for global content creators and broadcasters.

The partnership also gives Living Pixels exclusive distribution rights for the audiovisual series, along with licensing and merchandising rights for India.

Living Pixels CEO and co-founder VSS Somesh commented, “Beginning production on Grisù season two marks an important milestone for Living Pixels Entertainment. We are proud to contribute our expertise in animation production and CG workflows to a franchise with such a rich legacy, while further strengthening our opposition as a trusted global animation partner. We sincerely thank all our partners for  their trust and collaboration in making this opportunity possible.”

With a classic character, a fresh season and an international production engine behind it, Grisù is once again ready to turn up the heat. For Living Pixels, the message is equally clear: the studio is not just playing with fire, it is building a global animation pipeline.
