The Stadia Team has published a community blog post that shares anyone who chooses to play games on Stadia with any Android phone that can install the Stadia app.
The blog post shared details about a plethora of new features that are already available on the platform or are aiming to roll out soon. On top of this, Google has released support for touch controls in all games as well as support for per-device resolution options. Also, Stadia is currently offering $10 off your next game purchase for Pro member. The latest update for Google Stadia on Android, version 2.19, opens the door for any Android device to play games on Stadia. That support is in an “experimental” state, but it’s here and it runs.
The update also makes it possible for Google Stadia to function on Android TV. With previous updates, the app has been able to be installed and opened on Android TV, but it couldn’t use Android TV’s methods of signing into a Google account. Now that barrier is gone and Stadia can be opened on virtually any Android TV.
With this update, Google has also added a few new OnePlus phones to the officially supported device list. These include the OnePlus 5/5T, OnePlus 6/6T, OnePlus 7, 7 Pro 5G, 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro, and 7T Pro 5G. These are added to the list of others including Samsung’s flagships from the Galaxy S8 to the Galaxy S20, the ASUS ROG Phone 1 and II, Google Pixel 2 through 4, and the Razer Phone 1 and 2.
“If you’d like to be part of this Experiment, visit the Stadia app, navigate to the Experiments tab in your Settings menu, and choose ‘Play on this device.’ Experiments are our way of testing out new features so we can get your feedback. We’ll have more opt-in programs in the future as we look to bring even more helpful features to you. And remember, Stadia is also officially supported on a wide range of the world’s most popular Android phones, and we’ll continue to update this list as we improve and optimize Stadia across more devices,” added the post.
Five new games have dropped on Stadia Pro earlier, and here are the games:
- SUPERHOT, the FPS where the world only moves when you do.
- Get Packed, the wacky multiplayer moving simulator.
- Little Nightmares, a shadowy and mystic adventure.
- Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, a Mighty Morphin fighting game.
- Panzer Dragoon: Remake, the classic arcade-style shooter.
