In a significant step forward for the animation, visual effects, gaming, and extended reality (AVGC-XR) industries in Goa, the “Goa AVGC-XR Association” has officially been established. This association aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and growth in the AVGC-XR sectors, positioning Goa as a prominent hub for these creative industries.

“We have been working on the formation of the Goa AVGC-XR Association for the last three years. We had several meetings in Goa, Mumbai, and Pune as well. We jointly met the IT department of Goa in  November 2023, where we fired up the Association plan. We will now work together with the Goa government to revive the Goa AVGC-XR Policy,” shared FICCI AVGC-XR Forum chairman and Punnaryug Artvision founder Ashish Kulkarni with AnimationXpress.

With Kulkarni on board as the mentor, the newly formed body has appointed Tapan Acharya as president, Kishore Sahit as the vice-president, Rohit Khandekar as secretary, Vinay Bhat as the joint secretary, and Jeetendra Shikerkar as the treasurer. The executive committee also includes six members: Yugank Naik, Pradyumn Naik, Paresh Naik, Vinit Kundaikar, Makarand Tilve, and Megharaj Akarkar, along with representatives from the Goa IT Corporation, Govt of Goa.

Acharya, who is also an actor, writer, producer, and director, popular in Marathi and Konkani cinema, outlined the Association’s goals: “We aim to assist in drafting the Goa AVGC-XR Policy. Once finalised, we will present it to the ministry and drive it forward from there.”

Efforts are being made within the AVGC-XR segment to connect the industry by forming associations at both national and regional levels, with initiatives being launched across various states in India. With a dedicated team at the helm, the Goa AVGC-XR Association is poised to make a substantial impact on the creative industries in the region.
