Gears of War has been quite a celebrated franchise and Microsoft had already teased the upcoming, fourth edition of the game sometime back. It seems like the game has been completed base development wise as Microsoft made the announcement in an Xbox Wire post. The stalwarts of Microsoft celebrated the event today at the Microsoft Canada Excellent Centre in Vancouver.
The game has been developed by The Coalition and was helmed by Rod Fergusson who worked on the title back at Epic Games, till Microsoft brought the franchise. The celebratory event (image) also has Xbox, head, Phil Spencer in attendance and Micorsoft, CEO, Satya Nadella can also be seen holding up the gold disc of the game.
The launch trailer was also released by Microsoft, as promised. It features J.D. Fenix, Kait and Del, the new accomplices who would be joining J.D.’s father, Marcus against the new threat that looms over. You can spot new monstrosities popping out of almost everywhere and taking them on would be the protagonists, in their humongous mechs. The background score is Metallica’s ‘Nothing else matters’ by an artist named Lissie and goes pretty well with the scenario.
Gears of War 4 will be launching over PC and Xbox One on 11 October and is a part of Microsoft’s ‘Play Anywhere’ initiative, which means a digital purchase of the game on one platform would make it free on the other and also brings in cross platform play which includes PVP (player versus player) multiplayer and campaign. People who have purchased the $100 edition of the game would get an early access on 7 October. The Coalition has also confirmed that the PC edition will sport a split-screen for campaign and co-op.
