Gauselmann Removes ‘Shiva’ Gambling Game after Protest

A month after putting a slot gambling game on Shiva, Gauselmann Group has expressed regret and announced the removal of the slot gambling game after a group of upset Hindus protested, calling it ‘highly inappropriate’.

Developed by Merkur Division of Espelkamp (Germany) headquartered, Gauselmann Group, Shiva slot gambling machine shows a blue four-armed Lord Shiva with dark red lips carrying a damru in one hand. Espelkamp (Germany) chairman Paul Gauselmann, in a signed letter to, Universal Society president Rajan Zed of Hinduism who spearheaded the protest, wrote: “We understand the confusion and irritation concerning this. Therefore, we will immediately remove this game from our games portfolio and no longer offer this.”

Zed in a statement thanked Gauselmann AG and its chairman for understanding the concerns of worldwide Hindu community, which thought usage of Lord Shiva on slot gambling game was highly inappropriate.
