‘Free Fire India’ set to go live on 28 October

Garena announced that Free Fire India (FFI) will be available for download on 28 October 2026, bringing a familiar, fast-paced gaming experience tailored for players across the country. Available as a standalone app on the App Store and Google Play, FFI will offer exciting gameplay and opportunities to connect with friends, alongside locally relevant content and features designed to encourage responsible play.

Players can also look forward to locally relevant in-game events and campaigns that celebrate India’s diverse cultures and communities, including a special Diwali campaign running until 15 November.

“India is home to a passionate community of players, creators and esports talent, and we are grateful for their continued enthusiasm and support,” said head of operations, India, Garena Vaibhav Das Mundhra. “With FFI, our focus is on providing a familiar and engaging gaming experience that is thoughtfully tailored for players in India, while encouraging safe and responsible play. This new game reflects our long-term commitment to India’s gaming community, and we look forward to supporting more opportunities for players to enjoy gaming, connect with one another and pursue their shared passions.”

Accessibility has also been an important consideration in the development of FFI. The game has been optimised for a broad range of smartphones, giving players with different device specifications the opportunity to enjoy a familiar and engaging gaming experience.

Supporting safe and responsible gameplay

Alongside accessibility, Garena is committed to fostering a safe, responsible and positive gaming environment. These considerations have been an important part of FFI’s development, with features designed to encourage healthy gaming habits and help players enjoy the game responsibly.

These include parental consent requirements for users under 18, regular break reminders, playtime limits and spending caps.

In preparing for the release of the new game, FFI, Garena has incorporated feedback from relevant government stakeholders in India and implemented enhanced data protection measures, including hosting the game on servers in India. These efforts reflect Garena’s ongoing commitment to providing a safe and responsible gaming experience in accordance with applicable local laws and regulations. Garena is grateful for the constructive engagement and valuable inputs received from government stakeholders throughout this process.

Supporting Indian esports talent, from grassroots play to the global stage

Alongside this announcement, Garena will continue to support the development of India’s esports ecosystem by collaborating with partners across the country to create opportunities for players to hone their skills and participate in competitive gaming.

Building on its ongoing esports initiatives, Garena aims to support pathways for aspiring Indian players and teams, from grassroots and collegiate competitions to international competition.

Through these efforts, Garena hopes to contribute to a vibrant and inclusive esports community, where more Indian players can connect through gaming, develop their talents and pursue their competitive ambitions.
