Seems like 20th Century Fox is finally concocting the right formula and ratcheting up it’s stakes, with the second high-octane trailer released for its upcoming reboot, Fantastic Four. Over the years the studio has commercially failed to milk some of its comic properties including Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four franchise which had spun two sequels with a loaded star cast of Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans and Jessica Alba but lacked heavily on plot and execution.
On the other hand, Marvel Studios has been churning billions over its comic properties with the Avengers franchise and last year’s surprise hit Guardians of the Galaxy. Nudged by the fellow studios’ progressive strategies, 20th Century Fox had finally thought of spitting life into its Fantastic Four franchise with a less known cast. After a lot of detractors critiquing Fox’s decision rebooting the origin saga, the crowd seems convinced especially as the release date comes closer and with the studio releasing the second trailer for the tent-pole which promises some cutting edge visuals. However fans may be disappointed to go through Reed Richard and his team’s transformation all over again which clearly holds the premise for the reboot.
Rebooting the franchise from scratch, the latest three-minute trailer throws in more details about Reed Richards having a break-through in dimensional travel which lands him and his comrades into a distant fiery planet. Like all science expeditions in Sci-fi flicks, some minute details lead to miscalculations and things go awry. This is where our four heroes and assumingly Dr. Doom (Yes we have the same villain as well) return back to Earth exhibiting extraordinary traits. We see Mr. Fantastic stretching his arm through straps and the Human Torch flaming on, even Sue Storm looks convincing with her force-fields (though we miss Jessica Alba) but what’s scores best is ‘The Thing’. Blasting of from a pile of rocks, The Thing quickly grows on you as he walks with the same persona as our favorite Hulk. The new Fantastic Four flaunts The Thing in a 100 per cent CGI format rather than using a practical effect suit like the one worn by Michael Chiklis in the previous installments. The outcome has surely yielded stunning results. Dr. Doom makes a facial debut as well in the trailer with his iron studded mask under the hood and we have Johnny Storm stating that it’s ‘Hero Time’.
The Fantastic Four hits the theatres on 8 July 2015 and could really be a money spinner for 20th Century Fox Studios after all the studio did bring out their successful X-Men franchise which evidently has had their ball rolling. (Thank You Hugh Jackman).
