Fifth edition of Animation Xpress’ Ann Awards introduces new categories; entries now open

To celebrate excellence in the animation industry and honour the brilliant creative minds, the fifth edition of AnimationXpress’ Ann Awards is back. Entries for the awards are now officially open, and will close on 25 July.

India’s premium awards, which intend to recognise and raise the bar for the Indian animation industry, are held each year during the Animation & More (AM) Summit. This year, the summit is scheduled for 3 and 4 September 2024 at NESCO, Mumbai. The prestigious Ann Awards will take place on 4 September, the second day of the summit.

This year, Ann Awards has 12 main categories with a total of 105 sub-categories, including the Ram Mohan Award and the Arnab Chaudhuri Award which AnimationXpress instated in the years 2022 and 2021 respectively. Compared to the 2023 edition which had 10 main categories and 101 sub-categories, AnimationXpress has added more categories, giving every possible sector associated with the animation industry a chance to shine in the spotlight it deserves.

Young directors and filmmakers can nominate themselves in the Arnab Chaudhuri Director’s Awards which comprises two sub-categories: The Arnab Chaudhuri Animation Ace Award for emerging directors who are making their mark with their brilliant boundary-pushing work that has its own unique creative voice; and The Arnab Chaudhuri Young Ace Award for student directors who showcase innovative creative originality. The winners in both these sub-categories are decided by was decided by an eminent committee consisting of people who worked closely with Chaudhuri during his lifetime. Last year, the Arnab Chaudhuri Awards were presented to Neeraja Raj and Gaurav Pati.

For the Ram Mohan Award, the awardee is nominated by the AM Summit Advisory board members and Ann Award Jury members.

To qualify for Ann Awards, the projects should have been running/live for public viewing, between the period of 1 April 2023 to 31 August 2024.
