Facebook unveils VR system Oculus Quest with six degrees of freedom

Facebook introduced Oculus Quest at Oculus Connect 5 (OC5), its first all-in-one VR system with six degrees of freedom. The device helps to look around in any direction and walk through virtual space similar to the physical world. The VR device will ship in Spring 2019 for $399 USD.

Oculus Quest has touch controllers which helps to interact with people and objects naturally. There will be more than 50 games and exciting experiences, at the launch of the same. More upgraded version and variations of the games are expected to come soon.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, “With Oculus Quest, we will complete our first generation of Oculus products. If we can bring these three qualities together in one product, we think that will be the foundation of a new generation of VR”. The key features of the ideal VR system have a wireless design, virtual hand controllers, and full positional tracking.

Each year, Oculus Connect brings together VR developers, creators, and thought leaders to share insights, get hands-on with the latest tech demos and experiences, and re-imagine the possibilities of the medium. At OC5, Facebook is celebrating how far the industry has come in the last five years and exploring the future of augmented and virtual reality.
