ESL has appointed German software corporation SAP as the official analytics partner of ESL One Birmingham Online.
SAP will continue its support for ESL Dota 2 events as Official Analytics Partner for ESL One Birmingham. The competition will be played online only due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with regional online leagues from May to June, and a total prize pool of $335K USD split across all regions.
The partnership will see SAP provide insights into the Dota 2 event, using its technology to track the likes of win probabilities, item timings, and net worth progression graphs.
After providing analytics at ESL One Los Angeles Online earlier in 2020, SAP and ESL are aiming to enhance the overall viewing experience for Dota 2 fans across the world.
ESL SVP Global Brand Partnerships Stephan Schröder, discussed the partnership in a release: “We are excited to be expanding on our partnership with SAP. Together, and with the continuous development of these new technologies, we will make the next steps towards professionalizing esports even more.”
As in previous years, SAP technology will offer insights on players’ and teams’ in-game performances, which now includes KPI records, item timings and records, lineup characteristics, historical win probabilities and net worth progression graphs. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“Together, we have digested the feedback we received from our previous collaborations and developed new types of overlays and graphics in order to make each game even more exciting and interesting to fans,” said Milan Cerny, Director of Strategic Partnerships at SAP.
