The Central Intelligence and Fast and Furious actor who’s known by his ring name The Rock, Dwayne Johnson is set to produce a movie based on a forthcoming graphic novel. The graphic novel is named as Son of Shaolin and has been acquired by Sony Pictures.
As reported by Deadline, Son of Shaolin is soon going to be published and will be created and written by Jay Longino. Longino has recently co-scripted Skiptrace movie that’s set to release on 2 September and has previously been associated with projects like Kelly Clarkson: Behind Hazel Eyes, The Comedians of Comedy and Joe Rogan: Live.
As of now, a limited plotline is available. However, it’s been said that it would have the recipe to start a global franchise, a contemporary Kung-Fu story that intertwines Shaolin mythology with many of the current issues faced by teens growing up in a gentrifying neighborhood.
Matt Milam brought the project in to the studio and will oversee it. Producing the film would be Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia from Seven Bucks Productions whereas Longino will be writing the script for it. He will also be the executive producer alongside Ryan Kalil who financed production of the graphic novel through his Strange Turn Entertainment banner.
