The Star Wars movie saga will be retold in an animated limited TV series Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales that will air later this year.
Disney XD has announced that the series will air before the new instalment of the live action movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, hits US theatres on 18 December 2015.
“Since we introduced our first LEGO Star Wars set in 1999, we have seen and heard from countless Star Wars fans who have used LEGO bricks to tell their own version of this timeless story, re-enacting favourite scenes and imagining new story lines,” said The LEGO Group, vice president of licensing and entertainment Jill Wilfert.
The show consists of five 22-minute episodes that will re-tell the famous Star Wars movies in chronological order from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace up through Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
The twist is that this new take would be told through the eyes of robots C-3PO and R2-D2.
“LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales gives us an opportunity to share highlights of the Star Wars story with a sense of humour and excitement that can only be conveyed through the LEGO brick, and will be a fun resource for families as they gear up for the next movie,” he added.
No air date has been announced yet, and details of the show including who is writing and producing it are also not yet available.
