Disney COO Thomas Staggs announced the end of his journey at the company by the end of this year. Staggs was about to replace current Disney CEO Bob Iger upon his 2018 retirement but now, after the replacement himself moving out, the production house will have to look for another suitable candidate to lead the helm.
Disney’s board definitely has the bandwidth and capability to find a successor to Iger, although someone as good as Staggs will be difficult to find. Staggs’ has encompassed a 26-year tenure at Disney, and recently managed running the theme park division as he became the head of the parks division in 2010. His efforts and initiatives at the company indicated that he would be the next probable leader of the massive movie house.
Disney’s slate of films has increased with the acquisition of Marvel and Lucasfilm as Captain America and Star Wars movies have come into play. Therefore, Iger now has to make the best of the two years to manage the company’s vast assets and properties, and lead the diversified entertainment company to further successes.
Also, the reason behind Staggs’ decision to quit is unknown. But, a company like Disney will surely have a lot of efficient deserving personnel and thus, the show will go on as Disney has multiple ventures to manage.
