Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the sequel to Maleficent (2014), has received a new title, poster and a new release date.
Releasing this fall on 18 October, the poster revealed by Disney, features Angelina Jolie as the titular character, joined by actress Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, as well as Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith.
The sequel was originally set for a 29 May, 2020 release date, but has been moved up. Other actors include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay and Harris Dickinson.
The film is set several years after Maleficent, and will continue to explore the relationship between Maleficent and Aurora as they “form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.”
Directed by Joachim Rønning, Maleficent:Mistress of Evil is being written by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.
