DHX Media announced that season one of the new animated series, Mega Man: Fully Charged, has been picked up for linear broadcast and video-on-demand streaming by POP on their channels and services in the U.K., the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, Malta and Iceland. POP, UK’s commercial kids’ broadcaster – has debuted Mega Man: Fully Charged on the new on-demand Pop app available to all PlayStation 4 console owners and will launch on the linear channel in early 2019.
Aimed at kids six to 11, as well as their parents who grew up loving the video games, the new Mega Man: Fully Charged animated series will feature exciting new technologies and robots, as well as the introduction of Mega Man’s alter-ego, Aki Light.
“As the leading commercial kids’ broadcaster in the U.K., POP is the ideal platform to extend the international reach of Mega Man: Fully Charged,” said DHX Media president Josh Scherba.
The news follows the premiere of Mega Man: Fully Charged in the U.S. on Cartoon Network and in Canada on DHX Media’s Family CHRGD. North American fans can now also check out clips and trailers on the dedicated Mega Man: Fully Charged YouTube channel on DHX Media’s WildBrain network. The channel will launch in the U.K. coinciding with the show’s debut on POP.
The new Mega Man: Fully Charged toy line from JAKKS Pacific is anticipated to hit store shelves in the U.S. in spring 2019. The toy line includes action figures, figurines, playsets and accessories, role-play items, and everyday dress-up and Halloween costumes. The line of products is anticipated to roll out in the U.K. in fall 2019.
“Our creative teams have delivered a fantastic update on the classic Mega Man, and we believe fans new and old are sure to love immersing themselves in these new adventures. With international broadcasters on board, its own YouTube channel on WildBrain, and a terrific line of toys expected next year, Mega Man: Fully Charged is poised to take the world by storm,” Scherba added.
On 2 October 2018, Capcom launched the highly anticipated video game sequel, Mega Man 11, now available for home consoles and Windows PC. DHX Media manages distribution and licensing rights worldwide, excluding Japan, for the new Mega Man series.
