Dax Shepard to co-direct the upcoming Scooby-Doo animated movie for Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has quite a reputation when it comes to roping in people from their previous projects and adding them into a new one. Recently, it was being said that Billy Crudup, who has worked with Warner Bros. in ‘Watchmen’ will don the mantle of Henry Allen, Flash’s father in the protagonist’s solo movie with Ezra Miller in the lead. Now, as Variety reports, Dax Shepard, who is directing and writing the studio’s upcoming comedy ‘CHiPs’, is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to co-direct the Scooby-Doo animated feature alongside Emmy-nominated, animation veteran Tony Cervone of ‘Space Jam’ fame.

It seems like Shepard is all set to ride on the mystery machine with the food loving pooch, Scooby-Doo and his gang. While the new movie’s name is still under wraps, it is known that Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, who produced the two former ‘Scooby-Doo’ live-action movies, will be producing this one too. Shepard is also writing the screenplay in coordination with Matt Lieberman, who was originally roped in as the screenplay writer. Dan Povenmire of ‘Phineas and Ferb’ fame will be joining in as an executive producer.

‘Scooby-Doo’ is adopted from the iconic Hanna Barbera feature of the same name where a gang of friends solve mysteries with their dog Scooby Doo as the titular character. Previously two live-action movies have been made based on the same feature.

Jesse Ehrman, who oversaw Shepard’s ‘CHiPs’, will be coming in on the same role in this movie too. The unnamed (yet) movie is slated for 21 September, 2018 release.
