Daniel Gerson, story and script writer for Disney and Pixar feature films Big Hero 6 and Monsters, Inc. passed away at the age of 49. According to reports, Gerson had been battling brain cancer and gave up his breath due to the same illness.
Born in New York, he became staff writer for the NBC sitcom Something So Right and then shifted from TV to animated features. He penned the screenplay for the Oscar winner: Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., as well as the later prequel, Monsters University.
Further on, Gerson’s screenwriting and story credits include Chicken Little, the holiday TV special Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice and short film Tangled Ever After. Apart from writing, Gerson also lend his voice for the Desk Sergeant in Big Hero 6 and as Needleman and Smitty in Monsters, Inc.
Daniel Gerson attended Cornell University, where he majored in English, and later obtained an MFA from the graduate film school at NYU and further moved to Los Angeles to begin his writing career.
