‘Clone High’ reboot set at MTV Studios

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, along with Scrubs guy Bill Lawrence, were the creators of MTV’s one-season wonder Clone High. And now, the trio is returning to the network to reboot the 2002 cult favorite.

“We thrilled to reunite with Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Bill Lawrence to re-imagine this cult classic as we rapidly grow our portfolio of beloved and iconic adult animation series,” said Chris McCarthy, president of ViacomCBS Entertainment and Youth Group, i’n a news release.

Writer and producer Erica Rivinoja (The Last Man on Earth, Clone High) will be the showrunner for the revival, which is currently in development, with Lord, Miller, and Lawrence producing. Rivinoja is a two-time Emmy winner as part of the producing team on South Park; her credits also include The Last Man on Earth and Girls Trip. Scrubs and Cougar Town creator Lawrence has Apple’s Ted Lasso up next.

Like the original, Clone High will follow prominent historical figures who have been cloned and placed back in high school, including Abraham Lincoln, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc and John F. Kennedy, as they face the trials and tribulations of normal teenage life.
