It’s almost a quarter of a year since MCU’s magnum opus Avengers: Infinity War made its way into the theatres, and yet the mere thought of the movie, or perhaps any scene from it, still gives you the screaming abdabs. Such is the impact it has left on its viewers in what was a truly riveting affair.
Weeks following its highly anticipated release, several gag reels as well as VFX breakdown clips and stills started doing the rounds as the movie featured some of the best visuals by the franchise so far. Fans were given glimpse of what went behind the scenes into the making, and now latest in the line of the same is the visual effects breakdown by another VFX outfit Cinesite Studios.
Cinesite was an integral part of the visual effects roll, credited primarily with scenes involving Avengers fighting the sinister Black Order member Ebony Maw in the Q-ship, followed by the earth’s mightiest heroes’ first confrontation with the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Whilst both were some of the stand-out moments of the film, the recently released behind-the-scenes footage graphically breaks down several aspects of it, particularly the scenes involving the pointed mirror shards with which the Maw tortures Doctor Strange as well as the calibration of the ship and Iron Man’s armor.
Soon after the pantomime is dispatched – blasted into outer space, thanks to Peter’s penchant for movies – the three Avengers are invaded by the Guardians in what’s a comical confrontation. Yeah, there’s a breakdown of that too, and one brief vision of the scene shows Starlord, who grabs Spider-Man by the neck, actually spreading his arm around nothing with the latter completely absent from scene!
Some terrific VFX juxtaposition there, and arguably the best ones you’d see today. Check them out in the link below:
