India’s most lovable and adorable animated character ‘Chhota Bheem’ just upped its market value manifold. According to a source close to the makers the young and brave hero is all set to feature figthing criminals alongside last year’s most huggable character Baymax in the sequel to Walt Disney Animation’s Oscar winner ‘Big hero 6’.
On reaching Green Gold Animation founder & CEO Rajiv Chilaka, he says: “I can’t really comment on this development right now. Things are still being worked out, but I will speak about it when the time is right.”
Green Gold Animation is one of the few animation studios in India that has really pushed the envelope in terms of delivering quality content for broadcast television as well as theatrical feature films. Rajiv has been the torch bearer for the Indian animation community even at a global level and this collaboration of sorts happening with his IP Chhota Bheem comes as no surprise.
The 2014 film which released alongside Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic ‘Interstellar’ went on to steal hearts and brought in massive box-office returns for the Disney studios. Even before ‘Big Hero 6’ was released, there had been talks about a sequel. This is also Walt Disney Animation Studios’ third highest grossing film to date and the highest grossing animated flick of last year.
This is a day of reckoning for the Indian animation industry as one of its most famous IPs will be seen on the big screen alongside one of the most renowned animated characters in the recent past.
