It’s not a bird…It’s not a plane…It’s not even a man…It’s Super Girl! The TV series which was supposed to be broadcasted by CW but was considered too expensive for its tastes has finally been taken up by CBS Entertainment.
Starring Melissa Benoist as the Krptonian cousin of Superman, Kara Zor – El, the show is another drop in the small television space from DC Comics. Post the success of other DC characters including CW’s Arrow, The Flash and Fox’s Gotham, CBS could just have bagged a money spinner in its kitty.
CBS Entertainment has recently released the first official teaser of Super Girl along with a refashioned costume for the Kryptonian. Fans wouldn’t be disappointed for Melissa Benoist convincingly dons the ‘S’ symbol – the sign of hope from the House of EL. The six minute promo kick-starts with Melissa’s voice stating .. “My name is Kal-Jor-El. 24 years ago my planet was in peril.” reminding us of how CW’s Flash and Arrow begin in each of their episodes.
Watch the official preview for #Supergirl, the new series that puts a contemporary twist on a timeless superhero story.

Beginning with a brief description of her famed cousin and our beloved Man of Steel, Superman, the teaser plays upon the story lines of the Super Girl, another Kryptonian sent to Earth. With an alter-ego name, Kara Danvers who from the looks of the first teaser plays an assistant when not-saving the city.
The teaser also drops the cliché rescuing the plane sequence which reveals the Super Girl to the world. Then what follows is the mundane superhuman stuff, some trust worthy allies who know the real super hero, some costume designing and saving the city. Super Girl follows a brighter tone with all the superhero spice involved very much inspired from CW’s Flash which seemed to be a great success.
Apart from the lead, other relevant characters from the DC comic universe include Mehcad Brooks as James ‘Jimmy’ Olsen, Superman’s photographer from Daily Planet and Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Kara’s mother.
Super Girl premiers in November and would hopefully become a juggernaut for CBS’s prime time spot at 9:00 pm on Mondays.
