The Irish animation studio – Cartoon Saloon – that has given movies like The Secret of Kells and more recently Song of the Sea – has released a pitch trailer on its YouTube channel for an animated TV series titled, ‘Ellie the Ace’, looking to hopefully find any potential buyers for the show.
The trailer was recently made public after it was showcased last year at the popular pitch event, Cartoon Forum.
Here’s a summary about what the potential animated series:
“To most people the sky’s the limit… to Ellie its home! Up in the clouds is a very unusual town where flying is part of everyday life. On the floating islands of Lockhart you take a plane to get to school, grab a glider to visit your friends, and soar high on big adventures. Ellie is a 10-year-old who also happens to be a daredevil explorer and an ace pilot. She is outgoing and optimistic, always on the lookout for adventure, and eager to make new friends… Any excuse to get her plane out and about!”
Disney and Irish broadcaster RTE have supposedly expressed interest in the series, which is budgeted at a cool €4.5 million ($5.1 million). In line with current industry trends, the series is being conceived for multiple platforms including TV, mobile, tablet, and Internet.
Cartoon Saloon’s other TV series include Puffin Rock and Skunk Fu.
