‘Captain Marvel’ official trailer: The MCU’s mightiest is here, and she’s not alone

FINALLY! The wait has indeed come to an end. Captain Marvel debuted its first official trailer just now at the Good Morning America program by star Brie Larson herself, and as you’d have come to expect, it’s supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Clocking at just 110 seconds, the teaser opens with Captain Marvel’s character crash landing on earth and straight into a locked-up video rental shop Blockbuster Video, soon after which she’s seen engaging in a skirmish on the roof of a train, probably with the shape-shifting Skrulls. Else, why would she smack an 80-something women, seated within a coach, right in the face? However, we also get a glimpse of a first meeting between her and S.H.I.E.L.D agent Nick Fury, though agent Phil Coulsen, who died in Avengers movie, too marks a return to the big-screen.

As you’d know by now, Captain Marvel is based in the 1990s, years before the Avengers assembled, and going by the trailer, the plot doesn’t seem as straight forward. “I keep having these memories”, “I think I have a life here, but I don’t know if it’s real”; these words are accompanied by certain flashback sequences of a young Danvers as well as her time as the U.S Air Force pilot, but we still don’t know how these memories are linked to her present.

There’s also a blink-and-you miss it glimpse of the Starforce, the Skrulls, whilst Jude Law, who’s actual role is still unknown but widely touted to be Mar-Vell, also makes an appearance. But the best bit of the clip arrives right at the end: “I’m not what you think I am” she says, before it cuts to Captain Marvel charging up in her wowzer of a red and blue outfit!

Gear up for a rabble-raising inter-galactic escapade!

Captain Marvel arrives in theaters on 8 March 2019.
