Canada based Mark Animation continues to expand its operations as it gets ready to make an impression on the global stage. The production company/game studio has inked a worldwide distribution deal for its animated Miaomiao series, and has also brought on kids entertainment exec Donna MacNeil as VP of marketing and strategic development.
MacNeil will oversee the company’s marketing strategy and communications, as well as assisting with the strategic development of its digital entertainment properties. Formerly VP and group publisher of Kidscreen and senior director promotional marketing at Spin Master, MacNeil brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Mark has also announced a new deal with fellow Canadian outfit Brain Power Studio, which will now represent Miaomiao globally.
The short-form Mandarin-English preschool series (30 x seven minutes) currently has second and third seasons in the final stages of production. Miaomiao is a cross-platform preschool Chinese learning property with over 20 animated episodes and a 10-app game series set to roll out next year. The apps include a Chinese New Year-themed game, which will have an accompanying 30-minute TV special.
The company’s other content project is Shuyan the Kung Fu Princess, a five-part action-adventure game with a first episode scheduled for release in early 2015. Mark is just beginning to talk to potential partners about developing a TV series and film based on the property.
Mark Animation will be at MIP Junior and MIPCOM in the Telefilm Canada pavilion, looking for new interactive and animation opportunities.
