As Christmas arrives, almost all the games would be (or already have) introducing Christmas events. Ubisoft had already started its giveaways, Overwatch has brought in a Christmas themed event and the same is planned for League of Legends.
Infinity Ward and Activision recently released the latest edition of the famed Call of Duty franchise, titled Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. While there have been reports that the game’s sales are not doing that well, it seems the developers are resorting to a free-to-play weekend as a Christmas gift and as a marketing gimmick as well.
The event will run from 10:00 am PT, 15 December through 10:00 am PT, 20 December.
However, users will have some restrictions towards the game through this promotion. Players will have access to the campaign mode, multiplayer and even the zombie mode. But, there’s a catch to it. Only two missions of the single player campaign would be available while multi-player would be capped at level 15 and zombie mode would be capped at level 3.
For people who have been sceptic about the latest edition of Call of Duty, it would be a good chance to get a first-hand experience into the game-play and mechanics and then decide about the purchase.
Released on 4 November, there have been reports of about Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has been faring rather poorly compared to its previous editions. Let’s see if this initiative manages to bring in some more players for the game.
The free-trial event is available over PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
