‘Ant-Man’ and ‘Rocket and Groot’ to get an animated treatment from French animators

Marvel has been coming up with many animated series over the years like X-Men, Iron Man, Spider-Man and many more. With their recent hit live action movies like Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, we were expecting an animated series as well on it. And seems like we will get to witness an animated version of the two movies.

Thanks to the new tax credits offered by the French film commission, Film France, the country is drawing studios like Paramount, Disney TV to animation houses there. According to a Variety report listing, the Film France will release about nineteen projects which are currently being worked on in the country.

Among these names, two Marvel Animation TV Shorts Series, Ant-Man and Rocket and Groot were part of the list. Both series are being made by French filmmakers.  Ant-Man comes from director duo Ugo Beinvenu and Kevin Manach, who have worked on several short animation projects. Here’s an animation reel made by the duo:

From the reel we can deduce that the duo follows more of a traditional animation feel and look. Use of stop motion animation can be observed and sometimes blend of real  life environments in the background along with the animation is seen. It would be interesting to see how they bring Ant-Man to life in the animated series.

As far as Rocket and Groot is concerned, it will come from Arnaud Delord. Delord and his Fortiche Productions studio have done work for several commercials, and a bunch of video game cutscenes and launch trailers, most recently the launch trailer for Wildstar. Going by the looks of the trailer, we can safely say that Rocket and Groot will be getting the right kind of treatment from the Fortiche Productions studio and will be seen in a 3D form as that’s their speciality.

No word on when these projects be completed and will air have been announced as of now. However we can assume that if these are one-off shorts, they might air during the Marvel Animation TV blocks on Disney XD or could be included in the Blu-ray release.
