Animated comedy ‘Chicken For Linda!’ to hit digital platforms this July

French animated feature Chicken For Linda! will be available on major digital platforms, from GKIDS with home entertainment distribution from Shout! Studios starting 2 July.

The feature will be released in its original French language with English subtitles, and is available now for pre-order.

Directors Chiara Malta (Simple Women) and Sébastien Laudenbach (The Girl Without Hands) unleash a unique visual marvel of hand-painted animation with bright, colour-blocked characters in a story that blends slapstick comedy, musicality and family drama. The critically acclaimed feature won the César and Lumières Award for best animated feature.

The film was additionally an official Cannes selection in the Acid program, and following a sold-out work-in-progress session at the 2022 Annecy International Film Festival, it went on to win the Annecy Grand Cristal in 2023. The film was also awarded both the Grand Prize and Audience Award at last year’s Animation is Film Festival.

The synopsis reads: After unfairly punishing her daughter Linda, Paulette is wracked with guilt and offers to make it up to her. Linda immediately asks for a meal of chicken with peppers, just like her father used to make. But with a general strike closing stores and pushing people into the streets all across town, the simple request quickly leads to an outrageous series of madcap events that spirals out of control as Paulette does everything she can to keep her promise and find a chicken for Linda.

Chicken For Linda! is a sparkling, comical tale, and its animated whimsy will appeal to families and animation connoisseurs alike.
