The 1980s fantasy classic She-Ra: The Princesses of Power is being developed by Amazon Studios as a live-action series. The project is at a very early stage.
DreamWorks Animation that successfully produced award-winning animated series, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power that streamed on Netflix, will serve as an executive producer for the live-action series, as reported by Variety.
They also mentioned that this new version will not be connected to the animated series. Altogether it will be a new standalone story based on the iconic female character.
The Netflix animated series had five seasons and concluded in the month of May last year.
Created in 1985, She-Ra: Princess of Power was a female-centric spinoff of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The series ran 93 episodes over two seasons.
Also known as Princess Adora, she is the twin sister of Prince Adam also known as He-Man. Kidnapped as a baby by the Horde’s leader Hordak, she left behind her life in the evil Horde when she discovered a magic sword, ‘The Sword of Protection’, which parallels He-Man’s ‘Sword of Power’, gaining the power to transform into the mythical warrior princess She-Ra.
Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil.
