As the days for Blizzard’s game based movie, Warcraft is nearing, seems like Blizzard Entertainment is doing everything possible to keep their hit franchise constantly in news; this time by updating their older game. Warcraft III will be getting a new patch on Tuesday, 15 March.
Warcraft III which was launched back in 2002 hasn’t been updated since 2011, and now finally is getting patched to version 1.27. The patch will be released at the same time worldwide, but what all changes and features will be included are kept under wraps by the developer.
The news of this classic RTS game for PC was released in a video featuring Blizzard Classic Games head Robert Bridenbecker that was posted by dedicated WarCraft III casters, Back2Warcraft. The video was directed directly towards the Warcraft III community in China but had the message for the players across the globe.
Like Warcraft III, Diablo II got an update nearly after five years. The patch was primarily introduced to run on the latest versions of operating systems like OS X and Windows. It seems likely, then, that the new patch will be about making Warcraft III compatible with newer OSes.
These updates for old Blizzard games comes after the company formed Classic Games division last year. “We need engineers to help maintain our legacy games,” Blizzard said at the time. “We have a history of maintaining our games for many years. Our earlier games are still played and enjoyed today, so we want to continue to maintain them for those communities.”
