Few months back, the 1984 hit supernatural comedy film, Ghostbusters got its board game through a kickstarter campaign and now as the film is getting its sequel that’s been directed by Paul Feig, there are reports that it’s going to be accompanied by a new Ghostbusters video game, and it’s coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Activision is reportedly working on the new Ghostbusters game and it is expected to release alongside the upcoming Ghostbusters movie.
According to Retail Merchandiser, development on merchandise for the new movie began early in the filmmaking process. That apparently includes a new full-fledged video game coming from Activision.
It’s yet to be confirmed whether the game is in development at Activision and if the game will feature the all female cast in the Ghostbusters reboot. However, the report does state the new game is not a part of Lego Dimensions, which features a recently released Ghostbusters add-on.
The report also mentions the positive reception to 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game that generated a renewed interest in the Ghostbusters IP. That game was written by original Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and voice acted by the original cast, including Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson
Director Paul Feig recently unveiled Mattel’s prototype figures for the leading ladies in the film, which hits theaters on 15 July.
