Aardman and Bristol Ageing Better creates a short film for the lonely seniors

Aardman animation studio, known for their extensive clay motion films, have partnered with the Bristol Ageing Better (BAB) to produce a short film on loneliness due to ageing and have launched it at the 2015 Celebrating Age Festival.

The short film focuses on the ways to tackle loneliness and to live a fruitful life apart from displaying the tussle that senior citizens face. It encourages them to exercise, laugh, stay happy and ‘LIVE’ rather than just Existing! The voices of senior people add reality and in depth feel to the animation as emotions come to live and touch the hearts of the viewers.

Aardman, known for its award winning short film ‘Shaun The Sheep’, has added its quality touch to portray the delicate issue thus leaving a strong impression and Bristol Ageing Better has created a place in the hearts of the respected old.

There are about 11,000 senior people in Bristol who are lonely and long for someone to share their everyday life with and BAB gives them an opportunity to live their life in a better way.

Judith Brown, Deputy Chair of BAB and Chair of Bristol Older People’s Forum said: “BAB partnership has over 130 organisations with all sorts of activities to make life more enjoyable. We wanted to reach out in a fun way to people who may not be in contact with anyone else, and invite them to contact us. Aardman used the voices of local people, and I think the film is brilliant, and will help people to be less lonely.”

Joan Owens, starring in the animation added: “If I can make people laugh I’m happy and I think if we can laugh with older people we’ll live longer.”

An initiative for the old, this short film raises a ray of hope among the lonely seniors with an effort to transform the society.
