Today is the time when awareness about self-defense is a must exercise to prevent unwanted situations and survive through the downfall of the moment. In India, when we listen or read the daily news, we encounter too many news related to woman victims, either suffered or barely managed to come out unharmed. It isn’t the mistake of the victims when they are chosen as a target; it is the one who targets for the sake of fun and pleasure. In such situations, when a woman stands for herself fearless and fights back is what the world is teaching and so are some of the film producers. As we all know, a film is the best medium through which the world can be taught and teachings can be imparted. There have been various popular films released based on social awareness topics which are much appreciated and watched. It becomes the responsibility of the filmmakers to deliver the film in such a way that the message is too strong to ignore and clear to understand. Such filmmakers are few and continue to work hard to bring a change in our society by empowering woman and teaching them that they can do anything only if they decide.

One such director Amber Sharma, CEO of Mowgli Productions, is venturing into producing a film based on a girl who fights back her kidnappers with her strong willpower to be free again. The film is expected to be shot in Kyrgyzstan and will be produced and distributed by Mowgli Productions. Sharma will direct and choose the star cast for the film. The film will be released as such that it will be available worldwide targeting the youth of our countries. While the team is busy with undergoing tie-ups, the shoot for the film is targeted to begin by the end of this year. And one can expect to witness VFX shots too in the film.

Lone — Journey Never EndsSpeaking to AnimationXpress, Amber Sharma talks more about his newest film project:

What’s the story behind the film? A brief synopsis would help.

It’s a survival genre film. The story is about a girl named Ritu who is a gymnast and very much into adventure sports and loves travelling around the world as a solo traveller. Ritu is from Kolkata and this year during New Year, she decides to go for snow skiing in Kyrgyzstan. What she is unaware of is that she has been followed by people from Kolkata to the ski resort. She gets kidnapped and is kept at an isolated old cottage on the top of a hill. Now, she has to get away from her kidnappers and survive in the wild forest using her survival skills which she has learned during her gymnast training.

What inspired you to choose this story for your film that revolves around a kidnapped girl?

Cinema is the mirror to the society and through cinema you make the audience to think on certain topics and from cinema, you can make them learn too. These days lot of natural disasters are happening in our country and with lack of basic survival knowledge, people are getting killed due to these natural disasters. To make a survival film is to give a message to the audience that you can survive anywhere in any condition by using available resources to you, resources could be anything as nature has given to so many things to us.

What’s the title of the film? Can you elucidate on the process of making of this film?

The name of the film is Lone – Journey Never Ends. Currently, we are working on the storyboard and once storyboard is over we will start casting for the film and hopefully by end of December or the first week of January, we will be able to start shooting.

Did you face any challenges while finalising the team for the film?

Yes, it’s always challenging to find an appropriate team for your subject, 80 per cent of the film will be shot outdoor and to shoot in extreme temperatures like minus 10 to minus 20 degrees, one needs a qualified and talented team that can handle these extreme conditions. Also, it is a guerrilla-style film which means DOP is most of the time running in the snow with the camera to capture the scenes.

What message does your film intend to give to the audience?

My message through the film is no matter what the condition is you can be out from that situation using your basic survival techniques. Don’t ever give up.
