3000 meetings between content creators and industry veterans conducted at FICCI ‘Frame Your Idea’ 2016!

‘To create something in India you either need to know some big personality or have some big money, just having creative ideas is not enough’

This notion has been drastically raptured and changed by FICCI Frames 2016 – Frame Your Idea (FYI) initiative.

The local content creators met the industry personnel or in simple words the ‘aam aadmi’ with story ideas met the industry ‘gurus’ who have the money and bandwidth to use these ideas to create something phenomenal. This is what Frame Your Idea! (FYI) that happened across three days from 30 March to 1 April, 2016, alongside FICCI Frames 2016 was all about.

FYI, director, Viraf Phiroz Patel revealed exclusively to AnimationXpress that this year’s Frame Your Idea witnessed 3000 meetings in just three days between the content creators and industry stalwarts. “Last year FYI witnessed about 650 meetings across the three days of the event and a lot of ideas were picked up by some big players like Disney, Phantom Films and filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra,” Viraf said. “ So one can imagine, how many more ideas are going to be picked this year with around 3000 meetings that have taken place.”

The panelists comprised of creative teams of producers, directors, studios, broadcasters, content aggregators across six categories (Film, TV, Animation, Digital, Documentary, Finished content) who heard ideas, stories, scripts and finished content which was being being pitched to them by the participants.

Eminent personalities like Indian filmmakers Kabir Khan, Mahesh Bhatt, Rucha Pathak and Nikkhil Advani were a part of the panel. Viraf also mentioned that most of the ideas will supposedly be for the film industry.

So, how did the Frame Your Idea event actually take place this year? The content creators and industry veterans were allocated a confined room where no one except the creators and producers were present. So, the ideas were exchanged, stories were told and thoughts were revealed across the table by the content creators to the panelists in just 10 minutes.

Viraf also mentioned, “FYI is a win-win situation for both the content creators and industry as well. Because the normal content creators always complain that they can’t get in touch with the industry directly and nobody is helping them produce their content while at the same time, even the industry stalwarts are in need of good content.” Therefore, FYI facilitates both and is thus one of India’s biggest platform for a great opportunity with such an easy medium of access.

This year the Gaming industry gave FYI a skip as the game stalwarts were not that satisfied with last year’s pitches. However according to the panelists feedback, a happy Viraf said that this year they witnessed better ideas than last year.

So, let’s wait and watch whether a great story idea coming from a local content creator makes it big with the industry veterans liking, and thus take it to another level. All said and done, FICCI’s Frame Your Idea initiative has done its job of bridging this huge gap a second time which otherwise seems to be a difficult task in the practical world.
