Close on the heels of the UK telecast of Jack Frost, Mumbai based MEL (Maya Entertainment Limited) has now bagged an assignment from an LA based studio for doing game cinematics.
Production for the assignment, which is an action adventure cum horror game began in December 2004 and the cinematics work shall be on for the next 5 months.
Speaking to Animation ‘xpress, MEL COO Rajiv Sangari said that,”We are doing the concept designs, storyboarding, character, set modelling and animation to final output. We are also doing the promos (approx 15 mins) for the game”
Continuing, he added, “The most interesting aspect of this assignment is that we are doing concept art and character design which demonstrates the increasing confidence of our clients in our ability to do pre production work”
When asked whether the assignement was a co production or some sort of alliance, Sangari replied, “This particular assignment is purely service work”
Earlier in July, MEL had made announcements regarding the bagging of quite a few projects, one of which was a gaming project for a leading US based Toy Manafacturer. On being asked whether the new assignment was an extension of the earlier assignment, Sangari stated that Toy Makers gaming contract work which was mostly model work and character development was delivered last year itself and that this new project had nothing to do with its previous assignments.
