On the occasion of International Animation Day, Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), one of the leading 3D Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) training institutes conducted a Set design and short film making contest at its Hyderabad centers. The Animation Day Award Night at Hotel Silver Palms witnessed an overwhelming response with a crowd of young, fresh students dressed in their best costumes.
Over 200 students participated in the contest. For the film making contest, participants had created short films based on themes such as ‘Save Earth’, ‘Youth of 21st Century’. A short five minute telugu film, ‘Wake up’ created by Ameerpet team won accolades from the audience. Chief Guest, Dr. R.P Khajuria, IFS, Project Manager ‘Clean Hussainsagar’ project and a member of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) graced the event with his presence. The top three winning teams from Ameerpet, Hi Tech City and Dilsukhnagar centres were awarded trophies by the Chief Guest for their outstanding creativity in Set designing. The set created by Ameerpet team, ‘Sea Creatures Disco night’ was awarded the first prize followed by ‘Aliens Temple’ created by Hi tech city and ‘Wildlife carnival’ by Dilsukhnagar teams.
At the event, MAAC announced its partnership with the ‘CLEAN HUSSAINSAGAR FORUM’, a joint initiative by HMDAand JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) to support the cause. MAAC will help generate awareness about the project by providing digital content and create short films urging people extend their support and ‘Save the lake’.

Along with technical knowledge and creative orientation, one needs to sharpen his artistic skills well to become a successful animation film maker. We organized this contest to enhance the creativity and imagination level of students and promote animation as the Career of the Future.”
