Valiant Comics which is catching up with its well established competitors, DC and Marvel comics, is all set to attract readers once again in the upcoming year with its limited series comic featuring a plus size superheroine.Valiant announced this week that the new series will debut in January 2016 starring character Faith “Zephyr” Herbert of the Harbinger Renegades, going on her first solo adventure.
What sets her apart from other superheroines is that she’s just an everyday plus size woman with a more realistic body. Anyone and everyone can identify themselves with her. Earlier she was seen in the Harbinger, Harbinger Wars, Unity and Armor Hunters. Fans far and wide had been constantly demanding to give Faith her time to shine in the spotlight.
Finally fans pleas have been met as Zephyr aka Faith will now be seen in her own solo series wherein the teenager becomes that superheroine she always wanted to be, assuming a mild-manner secret identity as Faith and a day job as a reporter. She was orphaned at a young age but was psionically gifted “psiot” (psychic) and was discovered by the Harbinger Foundation. She has always aspired to greatness and so at night, she becomes the sky-soaring Zephyr, watching over the City of Angels.
“I think comic fans always enjoy seeing a fellow geek stepping into the role of the hero,” said Jody Houser, the writer of the upcoming comic in an interview with CBR, “but beyond that, Faith’s confidence and optimism is something that makes her stand out to me. She’s a plus-size woman who loves sci-fi and fantasy and enjoys sex, and is 100% comfortable with that. She has a very clear idea of what a hero should be, and is perfectly fine stepping away from people whose actions run counter to that.”
The world needs a hero to stave off a full-blown extraterrestrial invasion, will Faith find herself in over her head…or ready for her biggest challenge yet?
