10 July, 2015 has been marked in the history of Indian cinema as the date when the nation witnessed the magic of the biggest blockbuster of the Indian film industry, Baahubali: The Beginning. Created with a budget of Rs 120 crores, the film grossed Rs 600 crores making it the third highest grossing Indian film across the globe. The film came as a breath of fresh air due to its captivating visual effects and storyline. Fans have been waiting for the sequel of this film Baahubali: The Conclusion as viewers were left with the question- ‘Katappa ne Baahubali ko kyu maara?’
Seems like fans will have to wait for another year as the protagonist of the film, Prabhas, tweeted “#Baahubali2 release date confirmed: 14 April 2017 [Good Friday].” Baahubali The Conclusion will be be all about how Shivudu (Prabhas) avenges the death of his father. The 2015 film had a total of 2,500 VFX shots, with 16 VFX facilities tirelessly working on completing this project over the last three years of its making. Makuta VFX and Firefly Creative Studio took up the major chunk of the work; while Prasad EFX, DQ Entertainment, Tau Films, Part 3, Igene, Srushti VFX, were among others that worked on the feature.

Srinivas Mohan, who has earlier worked on Enthiran and I, was at the helm of the project for the first film. But, AnimationXpress learnt that the director SS Rajamouli has roped in RC Kamalakannan, who was the VFX supervisor on Vijay’s ‘Puli’, to curate the visual effects of the sequel. According to earlier reports by TheGraphicSlate.com, 40-50 per cent of the shoot schedule for Baahubali: The Conclusion was already completed during the time when ‘The Beginning’ was being done.
According to The Indian Express reports, the film is set to release in May in China in over 6,000 screens via E Star Films in China in May.
“This will be the biggest ever release for an Indian film in China, superseding Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’, which released in 5,000 screens. The makers had planned to release the film this month, however, it had to be postponed due to unavailability of suitable dates,” a source from the production team told IANS. Along with this, owing to the success of the film, Rajamouli has decided to give it a graphic novel treatment that’s going to be made by India’s one of the leading graphic novel and comic creators company, Graphic India.
With this news and the fact that Baahubali: The Conclusion will be releasing almost after a year from now it will be fascinating to witness what new the movie has to offer. Also, with the switch of VFX supervisors, whether the movie will live upto the expectations of the fans in not just the storyline but also in the visuals is an anticipation that will be answered with time.
