Continuing to strengthen its animation business offering, Technicolor, has acquired the French independent animation producer OuiDo Productions. Combining Technicolor’s technology and production strengths with OuiDo Productions’ licensing and development expertise, the acquisition augments Technicolor’s global animation offering and ultimately bolsters Technicolor’s strength as a worldwide animation production partner.
The announcement was made by Technicolor Production Services president Tim Sarnoff. “OuiDo has done an incredible job in leveraging the rights to major global media brands,” said Sarnoff. “We look at this acquisition as a complement to Technicolor’s growth strategy within the animation industry and the French market. We will now be better positioned to develop, finance, produce and service the full range of needs of content creators, licensors and distributors around the globe.”
Headed by Sandrine Nguyen and Boris Hertzog, OuiDo Productions has produced such globally popular animation series as Alvinnn!!! & The Chipmunks, co-produced with Bagdasarian Productions for M6; Sonic Boom, a co-production with SEGA for Cartoon Network in the US and Canal J/Gulli in France; developed Les Légendaires, an animated series based on Editions Delcourt’s comic book series of the same name, with France’s TF1 and Canal J; produced season 2 of Mini-Loup for France Télévisions; and the forthcoming launch of a pre-school series Monchhichi.
Nguyen and Hertzog added: “Technicolor’s passion for creating amazing animated content will be further strengthened by our ability to leverage the rights of major animated brands.”
