Telugu Film Director S S Rajamouli recently announced his most anticipated movie Baahubali’s release date through a Video Tweet on Twitter. Shobu Yarlagadda from Arka Mediaworks, Producers of Baahubali said, “There has been a lot of speculation in social media regarding our film’s release date, with several dates being discussed as a possibility. We felt that a video tweet from the Director would address the ambiguity, break the clutter and have a lot more impact than a text tweet or a press note.”
SS Rajamouli has been using Twitter effectively and connecting with his fans on a personal level. He was also among the first to use Telugu hashtag for the first time.
“The Telugu hashtag resonated and connected with the Telugu audience immediately as we are communicating in their language” Shobu Yarlagadda added.
Twitter is becoming a social soundtrack for Tollywood where upcoming movies are spoken about and fans get to speak in real-time with their favourite heroes. Movie talent, producers and studios are using Twitter increasingly to connect with fans, share behind-the-scenes moments, and engage with fans in a whole new, innovative and personal way.
Srinivas Mohan is the VFX supervisor on this project and he has earlier worked with Rajamouli on the block-buster Eega. He was also at the helm of the VFX executed for the recently released Shankar’s ‘I’ that starred Vikram and Amy Jackson. Baahubali is also expected to have extensive use of VFX given the nature of the film and large scale war sequences. Fans can catch the movie at their nearest movie theatre on 15 May, 2015.
