The year 2015 seems to be going well for Bollywood, with the recent success of content driven films like Baby, Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. But, what everyone has been waiting for with bated breath has been some confirmation on the Shahrukh Khan starrer Fan under the Yash Raj Films banner.
While the star has been travelling a lot in the past few months to support his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (though they didn’t make it into the top 4), he was also spotted in the city of Dubrovnik in Croatia shooting a few chase and action sequences with a smaller crew.
The film is going to witness some radical use of visual effects that is being handled by SRK’s company Redchillies.vfx with Harry Hingorani on board as the VFX supervisor on the project. In the recent past the team at Redchillies.vfx had worked closely with Autodesk India to present SRK with a one-of-its-kind life sized 3D printed model, and in an earlier interaction with AnimationXpress, the Redchillies.VFX team had mentioned that they would use similar techniques and more to recreate a younger SRK as well.
According to a tweet by SRK, Fan is the first movie that has been shot inside the Madame Tussauds Museum, “Thanx Madame Tussauds. Allowing us 2 shoot Fan with all ‘ur’ stars & our star Maneesh. Very gracious of u. 1st film to shot at ur premises.”
Few sources who are working at YRF Studios have confirmed that the ‘core team’ on the project, which includes Maneesh Sharma, Aditya Chopra, Shahrukh Khan and a few others are currently working round the clock to get the trailer out as soon as possible and also get a fix on the release date.
There are a few shoot schedules that are still pending and the edits are currently going on, following which the VFX and other post-production elements will commence on the film.
With the trailer soon to hit social media, ‘FANs’ of the Fan will get a lot more clarity on when will they get to see the Badshah on the big screen playing his biggest fan.
