An alleged rumour that has been doing rounds recently is that the eagerly anticipated Nintendo NX, which is speculated to be launched by next part of this year, will feature not only one but multiple Wii U ports.
Porting games from and to various platforms is fairly common in the gaming industry, be it to mobiles, consoles or PCs. It saves both time and effort for the developers as they do not have to redesign the game from scratch. Although, this very thing has its limitations as every game is not fit for every platform, thus, ported games might not be optimised to fit the platform.
Nintendo’s Wii was launched in 2006 as a seventh generation console and Wii U in 2012. Now with Nintendo NX coming out, the company has not revealed anything officially. However there are rumours that the company is not developing all new games for Nintendo NX as some will be ported from Nintendo Wii U.
The known leaker of Nintendo stories, Emily Rogers tweeted recently stating that at least four games will be ported to Nintendo NX from Nintendo Wii U, without indicating any specific game names. Although the tweets are not there anymore, it didn’t stop fans from speculating and counter speculating about the possible games which could be ported.
Some said that they are expecting the new Zelda; the Wii U game, which is supposed to make its entry in NX. While some say, recent popular releases like Super Smash Bros, Super Mario Maker and Splatoon might be on their way to NX too.
It is too soon to say what the actual plans of Nintendo are, as they have not made any official announcement. We can only wait and watch.
