One of the major faces to have promoted the Indian gaming ecosystem across the globe, Reliance Entertainment – Digital, CEO, Manish Agarwal has called it quits and is currently serving his notice period.
Reliance Games has been a major force to reckon with in the recent past, with successful games like the Real Steel franchise, Pacific Rim, Shadow Strike and many more with each having more than a million downloads to its credit.
Manish initially started his career with Reliance Power and along the way handled larger teams at Infosys, HLL, Rediff.com, Microsoft, UTV and finally coming full circle with his return to the digital entertainment arm of Reliance, where he was in the capacity of COO for just under a year before progressing to his current role as CEO.
During his reign the company flourished and worked with leading production houses like DreamWorks Pictures, Warner Bros Pictures and Columbia Pictures for creating games from their tent pole movies. Manish was also instrumental in bringing PGConnects to the country along with the Game Hack, which travelled across six cities to find the next generation of game developers. He had also hinted at taking the next Game Hack to Southeast Asia this year, encouraging more talented indie developers to find their true calling.
According to our sources, Manish is in talks with joining another Mumbai based gaming company – Nazara Technologies, which in the recent past has been in the headlines for planning to raise $75 million in a bid to further expand its operations.
When contacted, both Manish and Nitish Mittersain (CEO Nazara Technologies) refused to comment on this development.
We wish Manish all the very best for all his future endeavours.
Below is an earlier interview that Manish had with AnimationXpress.com on his future plans for Reliance Games.
