As the awards season culminates with the Oscars in Los Angeles at the prestigious 87th Academy Awards on the night of 22 February, the team at Double Negative (Dneg) are celebrating their triumph in arguably the toughest year for the VFX category, given the brilliant work done by all the nominees in the visual effects space.
Paul Franklin, Andrew Lockley, Ian Hunter and Scott Fisher went up and received their respective golden statues, while they continued to thank Christopher Nolan for the amazingly outlandish script and idea behind the creation of probably one of the best sci-fi epic sagas in recent years.
They also thanked the team back at Dneg for all the efforts that have gone into the making of this marvelous piece of cinema. This Christopher Nolan sci-fi epic saga revolves around the life of a crew of astronauts who travel through a wormhole in search of a new home for humanity. The film features an extensive use of practical and miniature effects, while Double Negative created additional digital effects, which include the jaw-dropping sequences like the spinning black hole and 4,000 feet giant waves.
The VFX house has added another Academy Award to its tally after having earlier won it for its work on Inception, another Christopher Nolan classic from 2010.
AnimationXpress.com had earlier predicted this win for ‘Interstellar’.
